Design your own papers and create many different stars.
Learn different ways to design paper that you can also use for other projects, such as bookbinding. Then you will design lots of stars using different techniques.
Your daily break during Advent!
This Advent calendar is a short online course.
You will learn how to design paper using different techniques and how to fold 18 different (origami) stars. Of course, we don’t want to give away any more at this point, because it’s supposed to be a daily surprise.
Welcome, I’m Dörthe
I first picked up a calligraphy pen around 2004 because I was fascinated by beautiful writing. Then I took a break to raise my children, and the subject was put on hold for a while. But it never completely left me. When I started again in 2016, I made a lot of beginner’s mistakes. I was also frustrated by scratching and smudging and not being able to get it right.
Today, I have my own studio, take on commissioned work, and teach courses for calligraphy enthusiasts.
But the journey wasn’t easy or comfortable. It took a lot of time and patience to acquire all the knowledge and the right technique, and I’m still learning.
In my online courses, I will make this journey easier for you.
Join us. I look forward to seeing you.
Creative greetings,
Dörthe
Recommended materials
Materials are not included in the course, as some of you may already have some at home. It is also not necessary to use all of the materials that I have used. We will simply use two different colors of ink, brushes, and writing tools. You can complete most of the projects using just a pen and ink on paper that you may already have at home.
Each day of the Advent calendar, you will receive a detailed list of materials for the corresponding project.
How does the Advent calendar work?
In 24 video lessons, you will receive knowledge as well as tips and tricks in a compact, understandable, and logically structured format. The videos are usually less than 10 minutes long, so you can really implement everything every day without getting any additional “Advent stress.” 🙂
Most lessons do not require any additional information material, but for others there are printable templates to accompany the video lesson.
You have until the end of August of the following year to view and replicate all the content at your leisure. This gives you plenty of time in case things get a little stressful for you during Advent.
FAQ regarding the Advent Calendar
Do I need any prior knowledge of working with nibs, ink, or origami?
No, absolutely not! The Advent calendar is suitable for beginners. All video tutorials are easy to understand and structured step by step. You will be gently introduced to the techniques—no prior knowledge required.
What happens if I don’t have time to participate on a particular day?
No problem! You don’t have to craft every day. All videos will remain accessible to you until August of next year. So you can work at your own pace – even after Christmas.
Is the Advent calendar also suitable for children?
The content is generally suitable for children aged 10 and up – especially with the help from an adult. Many participants do the project together with their children or grandchildren as a cozy Advent ritual.
What makes this Advent calendar special compared to other DIY offers?
Here you get a creative combination of mindfulness, artistic expression, and paper art. Not only do you create beautiful, unique pieces, but you also give yourself a little creative “me time” every day – without any pressure to perform.
SOUNDS GREAT!
